You may or may not know that I’ve been working with the guys behind Creative Boom quite a lot this year and was lucky enough to be involved in helping them update the website to their fantastic new design.

Well, the time has come for a Shrewsbury hub!

For anybody that isn’t already aware of Creative Boom, it was launched in July 2009, and includes news, events and regular features covering a wide range of creative sectors, including fashion, art, marketing, PR, film, photography, music, performing arts, design, illustration, animation, architecture and web development.

Creative Boom covers creative news on a national basis while its regional ‘Hubs’ or e-zines focus on the creative industries in different areas of the UK and already has over 20 hubs including Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Stoke, Edinburgh and more.

Enter Creative Boom Shrewsbury …

You may or may not also know, at the beginning of May I quit my full time position to become a freelance web developer. So far I’ve had lots of comments along the lines of “Are you insane? Do you not know we’re in recession?” well, yes and no.

Yes, I probably am in insane, but if you follow me on twitter then I guess you already know that! ~ grin!

And No. Now I’ve finally had the opportunity to get out and meet people I’ve realized that not only is the design and creative industry well and truly booming in Shropshire, but that it is the small independent companies and freelancers like myself that is making it happen!

I’ve had a massive amount of help and support over the last 6 months or so, and a lot of it has come from the guys at Creative Boom so now its my turn to give something back.

Creative Boom Shrewsbury needs you!

This is the bit I need your help with … if you are involved in anything within any creative industry, whether its dress making, cake decorating, graphic design, film, TV, web design, illustration, or anything else that can be called ‘creative’ I need your input.

If you would like to write for the website, submit press releases, showcase some of your work, design a banner for the hub so that it can change every month, advertise on the site or maybe you just have some news or reviews, get in touch!

Although the website will be called Creative Boom Shrewsbury all areas of Shropshire will be covered. So it doesn’t matter whether you are based in Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Telford, Oswestry, Market Drayton, Church Stretton or a house in the middle of a field, your submissions will be included.

Creative Boom is great a way to raise your profile, it can help with SEO for your own website and of course, its free publicity!

With your help I believe we can make Creative Boom Shrewsbury the best hub (not that I’m competitive at all! ~ grin!) and really show the rest of the UK that Shropshire is the place to be if you work within a creative industry.
