A Big Thankyou!

10 questions for Kirsty BurgoineMost of you will know that recently an interview with me was published on greatcreativelinks.com. I can’t begin to tell you how unbelievably flattered I was that I was even asked to be interviewed! Its one of those things where (in my case) you sit at your desk at work all day and then go home and sit at your desk some more. Creating websites because you love it, but not really thinking about whether you are any good or if anybody else is even interested in your work or opinions on the subject. That is until somebody asks if they can interview you…

I have to say that the response to my interview was overwhelming! I have been an active twitterer for a long time (but no where near as long as most web geeks) and have built up, what I consider to be a great list of followers that are a combination of local businesses/people and people from the world of the web. The response I received from my followers was unbelievable! I’ve gushed about the power of twitter many, many times (sorry if you are someone I rambled at recently). But I have to admit, I never expected the response I got. It was fantastic!

So many people not only read my interview but either commented on it or retweeted the link it made me feel like a ‘twitter celeb’ ~ grin!

I will try not to gush too much but, twitter is medium that so many people either ignore or write off as frivolous. Yet the response to my interview has once again proven to me that not only is it an exceptional way to connect with people I would never have even heard of otherwise but, used properly, it is an extremely powerful marketing tool (not that it needed proving to me, anybody that knows me, knows that I’m a complete twitter geek).

But my thankyou isn’t to just @traxor for asking to interview me, I have received a massive amount of ‘internet love’ recently. @andykinsey posted on his blog about a site we had been working on together, featuring my newly created bespoke e-commerce solution. You can view that here

He also mentioned a website I had built for @BeVividWeb, ordinarily I try to keep the work I produce for BeVivid completely separate to what I produce as a freelancer. However I was extremely excited about this project as it is for a really good cause and it allowed me to try a lot of things I had never done before. I had been talking to Andy about it and was really flattered by the complimentary things that he said on his blog.

Therefore, I feel I should say a huge thankyou! I was having a rubbish day, I was trying something new with php that I hadn’t done before, it wasn’t working as I had hoped. I was starting to doubt my abilities and then @traxor emailed to say my interview was live. The immediate response was incredible. Web development can be a solitary existence (even in an office with other webdevs) because you are focused on what you are doing, yet once I started to receive feedback from my interview it gave me the kick I needed.

So, thankyou to everyone that read the interview and Andy’s blog, commented, or retweeted recently I genuinely appreciate it all ~ grin!.
